Collection: Julie Brogan
At age 81, my artist statement and biography begin to blend.
I began painting in earnest after my husband died, twenty years ago. Prior to that, I worked primarily in fiber, metal, and as a performing artist.
My paintings are mixed media, with collage being my favorite form of expression, typically combined with encaustic or cold wax and oil.
My love of art and my emotional “pull” has produced a diverse body of work on a variety of themes including grief, floating free, invasives, colony collapse, the body as container, everyday madonnas, and my newest series entitled joy. The work in this show is from various bodies of work.
My work has been shown over two decades in venues in Wisconsin and Florida. My first solo show was twenty years ago in Appleton, and my latest group exhibition was a curated show in Fish Creek that came down earlier this month.
